Opened in February 1968, Frank Ryan Catholic Senior Elementary School is located in Parkwood Hills. The school is directly across from General Burns Park.

The Frank Ryan Catholic Senior Elementary School Council functions as an advisory body to the school principal and, on occasion, to the Board. The Council provides advice on a variety of issues and reflects the school community in composition and function.Meetings are held every third Monday of the month.

Our Belief

The Frank Ryan Catholic Senior Elementary School community believes that a Catholic school is one in which the teachings of Jesus Christ are integrated into the day-to-day curriculum and social fabric of school life. The strength of our school comes from the Catholic faith that the staff, students and community share. We aspire to have our students develop a way of living that embodies the life of Jesus Christ.

The staff and students of Frank Ryan Catholic Senior Elementary School have many opportunities to pray and demonstrate their Catholic faith. These opportunities include: school-wide and classroom liturgies, retreats, fundraising for charities and community service.

Parish priests are invited to visit the school regularly and to participate in liturgical celebrations. The Frank Ryan Catholic Senior Elementary School community has a strong partnership with parish, school and home. Our parish representative serves as the liaison with our school and our parish.

PRESERVING OUR SCHOOL HISTORY - LAST YEAR IN REVIEW

We believe in the concept of continuous improvement and strategies that will enhance learning and ensure the success of our students. We also focus on physical activities and offer a rigorous daily physical education program. Our school plan incorporates the Gospel values of Jesus Christ into the lives of our students and staff. We are currently focusin on exploring strategies for differentiated instruction and assessment. In addition, this year, we impemented our "Right Relationships" program. The purpose of this initiative is to promote a culture of respect in the school and in our community. We will continue to focus on this goal.


    COMMUNITY RELATIONS

    We believe our school should be at the centre of community activities. A focal point of the community, Frank Ryan Catholic Senior Elementary School is currently running at 76% capacity, with activities scheduled weeknights and on many weekends.

    More About Our Students/
    School Achievement

    Frank Ryan Catholic Senior Elementary School offers a wide range of academic, athletic and social experiences for grade seven and eight students.

    This year we celebrated the 27th Anniversary of our Turkey Trot of Hope. This event brings students and staff together to raise funds for local and global organizations and builds school spirit and a sense of community responsibility. Over the 27 years of Turkey Trot, Frank Ryan School has contributed over $550,000.00 to very worthwhile organizations.

    The Frank Ryan Catholic School Letter is presented annually to graduating students who have made an impact on life at Frank Ryan during their two years of education in grades seven and eight.
